Annapurna Base Camp Trek 9 Days Itinerary
Day 01:Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara 800m/8 hrs
Today is the first day of this 9 days Annapurna base camp trek and Poon Hill, you’ll take 7 hours scenic drive to Pokhara by tourist bus. The drive will be the most excited and comfortable. During the drive, you get to see beautiful views of rivers, small settlement areas, lush green hills, and waterfalls. Upon reaching Pokhara, you head to the hotel. Feel free to explore Phewa lake and the mountains of Annapurna with Machhapuchare mountains of Annapurna and Machhapuchare views.
Day 02:Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul 1/2 hrs and trek to Ghandruk 1,940m/4 hrs
After having breakfast, you’ll take a short and scenic drive to Nayapul. From Nayapul, begin trekking towards Ghandruk. The trail is most fantastic and you walk through the alpine woods with a peaceful atmosphere. Upon reaching Ghandruk there you can explore the Gurung culture museum and enjoy seeing a magnificent view of Annapurna South and Fishtail.
Day 03:Trek from Ghandruk to Sinuwa 2,310m/6 hrs
Leaving the Ghandruk village, begin trekking towards Sinuwa. You’ll descend Kimron Khola then walk along the rising terrain to reach Chhomrong village. From Chhomrong, you’ll get to see mesmerizing mountain views of Annapurna south, Machhapuchare (Fishtail) Himchuli, and Nilgiri. Likewise, you’ll descend Chhomrong Khola and cross the suspension bridge. Then trail ascent to Sinuwa, where you stay at a trekking lodge.
Day 04:Trek from Sinuwa to Deurali 3,150m/6 hrs
After having breakfast at Sinuwa lodge, you’ll walk through the bamboo and rhododendron forest to the village of Bambo and Doban. The trail follows along the Modi river and a jungle area. On the way, you’ll get to see amazing waterfalls and mesmerize Mount Machhapuchare’s views. After passing the Himalayan Hotel you reach Deurali. Overnight stay at a trekking lodge.
Day 05:Trek from Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp 4,210m/6 hrs
You will begin walking along a steep riverbed path and reach Bagar. From here, the trail gradually ascends to Machhapuchhre Base Camp along with offering stunning views of the Himalayan mountains like Mt. Annapurna I (8,091 m), Mt. Annapurna South (7,219 m), Mt. Annapurna III (7,555 m), Mt. Hiunchuli (6,441 m), Mt. Gangapurna (7,455 m), etc. Leaving MBC behind, the trail moves along Annapurna Sanctuary and leads you to the base of Mt. Annapurna, Annapurna Base Camp. Here, you get to relish panoramic views of the Annapurna Himalayas.
Day 06:Trek back from Annapurna base camp to Bamboo 2,310m/7 hrs
Today early morning, you’ll see an amazing sunrise over the Annapurna and surrounded mountains views with a glacier. After having breakfast, the same trail descends to Bamboo. Overnight you stay at a Bamboo trekking lodge.
Day 07:Trek back from Bamboo to Jhinu Danda Hot Spring 1,780m/6 hrs
Leaving Bamboo behind, once you pass Khuldighar and walk through the rhododendron and bamboo fields until Chhomrong. From Chhomrong, the trail descends to Jhinu danda, where you have a great opportunity to bathe in the natural hot spring. Overnight stay at a Jhinu trekking lodge.
Day 08:Trek from Jhinu Danda to Nayapul and drive back to Pokhara 800m/6 hrs
After having breakfast, you walk through the Modi Khola to Birethanti and pass beautiful green woods, several small villages, wonderful landscapes, and reach Nayapul. From Nayapul, you take a scenic drive to Pokhara. Pokhara city has different kinds of adventure activities like; paragliding, City tour, Ultralight flight, Bungee jumping, hot balloons, and many other activities. Day 09:Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu 1,300m/7 hrs
After a quick breakfast, you will drive back to Kathmandu today. The drive will be long and scenic. Upon reaching Kathmandu, you will move to the hotel. Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS)
AMS or altitude sickness is one of the main risks while traversing at a high altitude. The main region behind getting AMS is when the body doesn’t adjust to the lower level, and the result can be deadly. So it is very important to take proper measures on time. Gaining altitude with constant pace and proper acclimatization days will help reduce the chances of getting AMS.
Similarly, you also have to keep yourself hydrated during the trek, therefore, drink enough water and avoid alcoholic drinks as it dehydrates the body. If you are planning to trek in one of the adventurous trails of Nepal then do keep the above things in your mind.
